19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court after that period of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an improved service.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
